Why is Reach Resources' Phase 2 drilling considered a game-changer for Morrissey Hill's lithium potential?

Reach Resources Limited (ASX: RR1 & RR1O), a company committed to exploring and developing valuable mineral resources, has recently shared a remarkable update regarding its Phase 2 drilling program at the Morrissey Hill Lithium Project in Yinnetharra, Western Australia. The latest results from this drilling campaign have unveiled the presence of multiple thick, stacked pegmatites within the project area, significantly expanding the project's lithium potential.

Elevating Lithium Potential

Phase 2 drilling at Morrissey Hill has proven to be a game-changer, as it has substantially increased the scale of lithium potential within the project. The drilling results confirm the existence of multiple stacked pegmatites within a previously unrecognized package of the Leake Springs Metamorphics, specifically at Morrissey Hill South. This discovery is particularly significant, as the Leake Springs Metamorphics sequence hosts Delta Lithium's (ASX: DLI) Malinda and Jamieson Lithium Projects, located immediately east and west of Morrissey Hill, respectively.

Expanding Geological Knowledge

Previously, it was believed that the Leake Springs Metamorphics were limited to the northern third of the Morrissey Hill project area. However, the recent drilling campaign has revealed that these metamorphics extend further south, opening up new possibilities for lithium exploration and development.

The Phase 2 drilling effort has been extensive, with a total of 57 holes drilled, covering a distance of 5,282 meters using Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling. The majority of the holes have yielded positive results, confirming the presence of thick, stacked pegmatites within favorable rock types, including metasedimentary and lesser mafic volcanic rocks.

Robust Exploration Strategy

It's important to note that the Phase 2 drilling program has been limited to areas where heritage surveys have already been conducted. The primary focus was on testing the depth continuity of outcropping pegmatites at the Morrissey Hill and Peggy Sue targets, with some infill and extensional drilling at the Bonzer prospect.

However, Reach Resources has identified a pipeline of 33 priority targets that will be systematically evaluated in 2024. These evaluations will commence once all regulatory approvals, including additional aboriginal heritage surveys, have been obtained.

Awaiting Results

Results from this part of the Phase 2 drilling campaign are anticipated to be received in early 2024. All collected samples have already been dispatched to the laboratory for analysis, and the company is eagerly awaiting the outcome.

CEO's Perspective

Jeremy Bower, CEO of Reach Resources, expressed his enthusiasm for the Phase 2 campaign's success. He noted that the drilling has confirmed the presence of multiple thick, stacked pegmatites within the Leake Springs Metamorphics, a discovery that expands the potential of Morrissey Hill.

Bower further highlighted that these metamorphics, hosting similar rock types as Delta's Malinda Lithium Project, are far more favorable for pegmatite fractionation and significant lithium mineralization. This breakthrough discovery has the potential to enhance the scale of the project substantially.

A Challenging Endeavor

It's worth noting the challenging conditions under which the drilling team operates. Despite extreme circumstances, they have successfully completed this technically brilliant drill campaign and continued to identify and map new pegmatite targets, contributing to the vast potential at Morrissey Hill.

The company is now preparing for a well-deserved Christmas break, anticipating a promising year ahead in 2024.

Reach Resources' Phase 2 drilling results at the Morrissey Hill Lithium Project in Yinnetharra, WA, have unveiled a wealth of potential in the form of multiple stacked pegmatites. This significant expansion in lithium potential, particularly within the Leake Springs Metamorphics, positions Reach Resources as a player to watch in the lithium exploration and development sector.

As the company awaits the laboratory results and prepares for further evaluations in 2024, the industry will be closely monitoring Reach Resources' progress as it continues its pursuit of unlocking the full potential of the Morrissey Hill Lithium Project.
